Alviro Petersen to retire from International Cricket

Alviro Petersen today announced his retirement from international cricket with effect from the 1 April 2015.

Petersen said "I feel that at 34 it is time to retire from international cricket and to move on with my career. I intend playing County and Franchise cricket for the next few years and also concentrating on my Foundation and my Cricket School.

The Alviro Petersen Foundation hold their First Gala Dinner

The Alviro Petersen Foundation's first gala dinner was held at Randpark Golf Course on 19 November 2014, and was attended by legendary batsman Barry Richards and current great Chris Gayle, as well as current players, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Thami Tsolekile and Eddie Leie.

The foundation outlined new programmes for the next 12 months, and also gave feedback on the past year, which has included sponsoring and supplying sports equipment to four schools in Port Elizabeth, and a cricket club in Pretoria.

it’s good to be back at the County Ground! - August 2014

It is always great to be back here at the County Ground and to fell part of the Somerset changing room again.

This is a good time to come back because we are still in with a chance of reaching the last eight of the 50 over one day competition and also lifting the championship title for the first time ever, which would be some feat and Id love to be part of that.
